University Galleries celebrate emerging artists in Fresh From Chelsea exhibition
September 1 - December 4, 2009

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A new exhibit coming this fall to the University and Grinter Galleries, Fresh from Chelsea, presents 27 works by 21 artists from the collection of Dr. Robert and Lisa Feldman.
Most of the artists in the exhibition are represented by galleries in the Chelsea district of New York City. The works included in Fresh from Chelsea are by “emerging” artists, who have achieved important recognition, but are still early in their careers.

The artwork in Fresh from Chelsea is new, exciting and cutting-edge. Several people included in the exhibition create in more than one medium, giving us a look at their cross-disciplinary exploration. The two galleries will have drawing, painting, sculpture, video, installation and a full range of interesting ideas and approaches.

There will be artist/curator talks as follows:

Artists Nicola Lopez & Gandalf Gavan; Collector Dr. Robert Feldman: 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27, University Gallery.

Sculptor Diana Al-Hadid: 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 22, FAB Lecture Hall.

Curated by Amy Vigilante, the exhibition features the following artists: Diana Al-Hadid, Kamrooz Aram, Kristopher Benedict, Thomas Brouillette, Beth Campbell, Margarita Cabrera, Teresita Fernández, Gandalf Gavan, Orly Genger, Luis Gispert, Ezra Johnson, Nicola López, Jason Middlebrook, Nathan Redwood, G. Bradley Rhodes, Erica Svec, Tam Van Tran, Anna Von Mertens, Suling Wang, Matthew Weinstein, Zachary Wollard.
